Bem Bom Food Truck & 5 Other Orlando Food Trucks Filming This Weekend For Eat St. TV

Several Orlando food trucks will be filming to be featured on The Cooking Channel’s Eat. St. TV this weekend. One of the food trucks is Bem Bom Food Truck, which was one of the participants in the 100+ Truck Rally Festival this past August that attracted over 30,000 people to the Florida State Fairgrounds for a record-breaking day of food truck consumption and fun.

Bem Bom is one of the food trucks I was most excited about at the 100+ Truck Rally Festival because they serve Portugese cuisine and it was my first opportunity to try it! I expressed my excitement to the Tampa Tribune and the crowds around Bem Bom were just staggering at the event…I did get to try one dish that day though thanks to the chef and it was excellent!

The dish I tried was the Piri-Piri Chicken Prego which features all natural local chicken tenderloins with piri-piri marinade, melted island cheese, pico de gallo, and piri-piri sauce. Literally one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever enjoyed! Piri-Piri sauce is prevalent in Angola, Namibia, Mozambique and South Africa and is traditionally made from crushed chillies, citrus peel, onion, garlic, pepper, salt, lemon juice, bay leaves, paprika, pimiento, basil, oregano, and tarragon.

The chicken sandwich was a little spicy, but only in a way that enhances your appreciate for the flavors of the chicken. More trips to Orlando are certainly in order to have more Bem Bom Food Truck. Good luck to them on Friday when they film with Eat. St. at 12:00PM at Southeast Steel (63 W Amelia St. Orlando, FL 32801). Facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/events/1426251624277605/

We’re also very excited to announce that Bem Bom Food Truck will be one of the first food trucks in Orlando to start using Truckspotting so hungry diners in Orlando can find their favorite food truck.

City of Tampa Mayor’s Food Truck Fiesta

On the first Wednesday of each month Tampa’s Mayor, Bob Buckhorn, hosts the Mayor’s Food Truck Fiesta and showcases several new food trucks as well as local favorites at Lykes Gaslight Square Park (410 N. Franklin St.) from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. Several of these trucks use the Truckspotting GPS system.

Here are some photos from last week’s food truck fiesta:

Walking down Downtown you see the food trucks lined up and ready to serve. The trucks bring people out for the day and benefit both the local businesses in Downtown and the food truck culture in Tampa Bay. Bob Buckhorn’s commitment to the local economy is certainly exemplified in his push for events like this and several other cities have now followed in this direction.

Several food carts and local vendors also set up at the fiesta and encourage the local economy.
